The Story of a pencial

Small things in our life can teach big lessons and as I read this
story by Paulo Coelho in his book “Like the flowing river” I thought
I should share this story with a larger audience.
The title of the story is “The story of a pencil”
“A boy was watching his grandmother write a letter. At one point
he asked ‘Are you writing a story about what we have done?
Is this a story about me’ His grand mother stopped writing her
letter and said to the grandson ‘I am writing about you actually
but more important than the words is the pencil I am using. I hope
you will be like this pencil when you grow up.’
Intrigued the boy looked at the pencil. It didn’t seem very special.
‘But it’s like any other pencil I’ve ever seen.’

‘It depends on how you look at things. The pencil has five qualities,
which if you manage to hang on to them, will make you a person
who is always at peace with the world.’

First quality: you are capable of great things, but you must never
forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that the
hand of God, and He always guides us according to his will.

Second quality: now and then I have to stop writing and use a
sharpener. That makes the pencil suffer a little but afterwards,
he is much sharper. So you too must learn to bear pains and sorrows,
because they will make you a better person.’

Third quality: the pencil always allows us to use an eraser to rub out
mistakes. This means that correcting something we did, is not
necessarily a bad thing, it helps us to keep on the road to justice.

Fourth quality: what really matters in a pencil is not the wooden
exterior, but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what
is happening inside you.’

Finally the pencil’s fifth quality: it always leaves a mark. In just the
same way, you should know that everything you do in life will leave
a mark, so try to be conscious of that in your every action.”

I would like to add up one more quality to the pencil which is very
important in today’s world. A pencil can write in any medium.
When the space programme was launched the Americans were
wondering how to develop a special ink that will write in the
vacuum of space. But the Russians used a pencil. The graphite is
unaffected by vacuum, heat or cold.
So also, if we want to contribute in a positive manner in our lives,
we should be able to adapt ourselves to varying environments.

[ ATTITUDE ]

The following story illustrates one man's determination to choose his attitude in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.



Jerry was always in a good mood, and always had something positive to say.



He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant.



The reason the waiters followed Jerry was his attitude.



He was a natural motivator.



If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.



Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I approached Jerry and remarked, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"



Jerry replied, "Each morning, I wake up and say to myself, 'Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good mood.



Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.



Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept his complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life."



"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested.



"Yes, it is," Jerry said. "Life is all about choices.



When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life."



I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.



Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business; he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gun point by three armed robbers. While trying to open the cash box, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him.



Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.



I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he said, I declined to see his wounds but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place.



"The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jerry replied. "Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live."



"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.



Jerry continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, 'He's a dead man.' I knew I needed to take action."



"What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. "Yes," I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, "Bullets!" Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."



Jerry lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.

[POSITIVE MINDSET BRING RESULT]

When you feel the frustration level rising to the point
that it threatens to undermine your positive mindset
to your studies, it is time to take a short break.
Push back the chair, turn off the computer, and get out
of the house. Go to a movie, take a walk, have coffee with
friends. The point is to change your location, the view
around you, and the focus of your attention for a short
period of time.

Giving yourself this short break will do wonders for
your cognitive abilities. Chances are very good
that when you return to your computer and pull
up your study documents, things will make a great
deal more sense.

Remember that you can be whatever you want to be.
All you have to do is take the time to equip yourself
with the knowledge and skills you need to reach your
goals. This may not happen overnight, but if you keep
your chin up, work hard, and assimilate what you need,
your confidence in your ability will grow and you will get
where you want to go.

[ MONEY MEDITATION ]

A Simple Money Meditation

Here is A Simple Experiment that May Put $100 (or More) into Your Pocket

I believe in providing you with simple actions you can take that will give you definite, practical results. I'm not going to give you the psychology behind this experiment right now, just the steps:

1.Get a small card--the back of a business card works perfectly--and write on the back of it "$100." No affirmations, no other words, just the figure $100. Or if you live outside the U.S., you can write down an equivalent amount in your own currency.

2. Carry your card around with you and look at it several times a day.

3.The purpose of the card is to give you something tangible to focus your thoughts on. As you look at the card, visualize the amount. In your imagination, see that money in your hands. See it moving into your bank account.

4. After you download the 31 FREE Power Affirmations you will receive from joining my list, listen to all of them at least once each day. You don't have to listen to them all at once. And you can listen to them while you are doing other things. As you listen, keep saying to yourself "$100."

5.Once a day, use your computer or a blank piece of paper, or a notebook and write down any thoughts you have about the $100. Maybe an idea pops into your mind as to how you can earn an extra $100--how you can serve others. Or how you can save $100 (remember: a dollar saved is a dollar earned). I have also found it helpful to write out formulas that equal $100. For example, 5 x $20=$100; 10 x $10 = $100. It increases creative thoughts. I always use multiplication for this.

6.Make certain you notice when the $100 has come to you in the form of new income or new savings.

Celebrate your results. You have just proven to yourself that affirmations and the Law of Attraction works. And you now have a practical means of attracting more money into your life any time you want.

Can you do this with larger amounts? Absolutely. My advice is to gradually increase the amounts as your self-confidence and faith increases. If you apply this idea consistently, it may put thousands of dollars into your pocket over the next few years. More importantly, it will increase your understanding of the Law of Attraction.

[ How to over come the fears of change ]

Normally people are afraid to accept change whether it
is good or bad. Fears of change to be defeated to succeed
in life. The life comprise of ups and downs. No body can
be in a permanent ascending trend, because that is not
possible and no body can avoid that.

However the most important thing is not how to avoid
changes, fears and bad experiences but how to learn from
them. It is crucial not to let problems overwhelm you,
but to know how to use them in your favor for your
success.

There is no doubt that any problem will affect us, which is
normal because we have feelings. But every problem would
make us stronger. That is the reason the specialist in this
subject has always recommended to analyze and meditate
on the worst situation you had to deal with in the course of
your life. Try to learn from your mistakes so that they will
prepare you for the changes or less pleasant situations to come.

There are beliefs in the olden days that every single
situation of our lives take place with a pre-determined
reason. And also people thoughts that life prepare us
for certain events to come, so that if we focus more
attention on our previous experiences, we will understand
many things from the present.

It is also true that the unexpected can happen anytime.
However please keep in mind that a change is not always
for the worst.Since you are afraid to take the risk some
time you may miss a chance.

Please keep in mind something has to happen in order
to free you from monotony. So do not get surprised
if a certain moment in time, instead of being afraid of
change, you like it with all your heart.

If you are not in a position to understand what a certain
change in your life, really means, here is a list of tips
that might help you to get organized.

1.Try to think the positive impact only that will result
after the change.See how important they are and
meditate upon how to multiply by adding some other
good aspects. In this line you may need some assistance.
2. In one situation if you realize that other person can
handle the change, you can be sure you will be able to
handle it as well.
3.Imagine the worst situation that can be the result after
the change,try to find many solutions to it. Meditate
on how much you can loose if worst happened. At the
same time look how important those things to you.

If you find more than one reasonable solution, you
are safe. The change can't be stronger than you are.

[How To Find Out What You Want From Life ]

Whether you are old or young,you must arrived
to a point in life to decides what you should do to
improve your life.You should not depend on some
one advise because if their advice goes wrong you
would blame them for your failure. That is the reason
experts always advise when you are at a cross road to
come to your own decision.

Obviously, you will have a question how you can
know which one is the best solution.

The answer for this question is never going to be
simple. How ever there is technique that can be of
great help and employed regularly will have great
results: it is called Meditation.This has been used for
centuries in certain rituals and by ancient civilizations.
For example in the Bible,we are invited to meditate to
discover and fight the evil in us and by knowledge to
gain control over our decisions and our lives.

How we can meditate, first you will have to go to a
calm place where there is no distractions. You must be
able to analyze your deepest feelings and thoughts.
Secondly you need to ask yourself a series of questions to
determine who you really is.

What do you like doing?
What made you most proud of yourself?
What is it that you always wanted to do and you never
found the time?
What role does money play in your life?
How much do you depend on others.

All these questions will help you to determine where you
stand and what is it that you want from life. After analyze
every question write the answers in a paper with red pen.
whatever you find pride worthy answers and with black
one the things that don't make you proud.

Post the list somewhere where you can see it several times.
You will notice that step by step the black list start turning
red.Don't forget to renew the list when most of it has turned
red! It is the best way to always be aware what your

[BUILDING CONFIDENCE]

You can read the details of confidence in a
book but actually having confidence in you
is very different matter.
You can read about it in your entire life
time but you won't have it until you make
a effort to achieve it. It is not something that
comes easily either. You will make mistakes
along the way towards building confidence
and you should be expected. Just like riding
a bike, you will fall and have scraps on your
knee few times, but then you have to get
back up on the bike and go for it.
Just get on the seat and do it.
One fine day you are going to have it.
Watching TV and reading books
won't bring confidence to you.The real deal
is that you are going to get on the seat and
start paddling.Confidence is not a theory.
Confidence is a feeling and state
of mind.

Therefore it is not completely possible for
any one to build confidence without having
to do something about it.
So, go on and start doing whatever
it is that you want to have confidence in
Do the right things and confidence will
come almost too naturally to you.
Money and gold won't buy you
confidence.Confidence won't come in a nice
packing from any store.Drug stores don't
sell confidence.And Doctors can't hand you
'confidence' in a bottle marked 'take three
times a day'.
The only person who
can give you
confidence
is....yourself.

When you have experience that will lead
you to build your confidence.
The more time you do something the better
you get at it. The better you get at it, the
more confidence you will have.

[MIND POWER]

Most of us will remember that there is a saying
"Where there is a will there is a way".With this
simple but true statement, the possibility of using
one's mind to overcome obstacles, problems and
mistakes is designed. And believe it or not, even
Yoga uses this simple logic of mind over matter
to help people to overcome the stress. And moved
away from the real world to enter a reality that is
totally in their mind.

Many believe that affirmations can help to lift the
destroyed spirits and rebuild their broken hearts.
It can also help people get back on their feet
when they feel that they are beaten.It can bring
the soul back to life when their soul has gone
down in depression.

There is no proved drug or medication to work
as effectively as mind power.For some people
you can use the mind power to control an out
come or break a negative tendency to change
the life pattern. Self-hypnosis is also considered to
control the mind to some extent.

The sub conscious mind can be controlled
and
can be used to our advantage.Knowing
how to use the mind is very very empowering.

If you really want to succeed and believe that your
mind will help then you draw a plan to acieve it.
